The Friends of Woking Community Hospital held their AGM on Wednesday 10th June in the lower hall of the Horsell Village Hall. Attending were the Trustees, Friends and guest Professor Louise Stead Group Chief Executive Ashford and St Peters Hospitals and Royal Surrey NHS Foundation who was welcomed by President Laura Chatwin.
Unfortunately Will Forster MP, and the Mayor of Woking Councillor Rob Leach were unable to attend. Chairman Jon Allan welcomed members and guests to the 55th AGM of FWCH thanking all for being here to support the Friends of Woking Community Hospital, it has been a successful year from the point of view of fundraising with successful events and some legacies. He attended, on behalf of FWCH, the formal opening of the new Diagnostic Hub. The Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Michael More-Molyneux cut the ribbon to the unit, and with Jonathan Lord, who, when he was MP for Woking, helped increase the funds for the Diagnostic Hub. We enjoyed a tour of the CT, MRI and Ultrasound Unit.
Professor Louise Stead CEO gave the meeting a summary of the current position of WCH. The Diagnostic Hub aims to be open 7 days a week 8am-8pm in the future with heart diagnostics as well. A maternity Hub at WCH is also possible at some stage.
The FWCH were all delighted that the future of WCH is now assured and we look forward to working with all the different departments improving life for patients and staff.

ANNUAL PLANT SALE 13TH JUNE 2026 11am-5pm at 10 High Street, Horsell, GU21 4UT.
The Friends of Woking Community Hospital held their Plant Sale with the Horsell Garden Safari on a glorious Saturday 13th June. After weeks of unsettled weather, too hot, too wet and too windy in turn it was perfect on the day. After a hectic two hours setting up, the gate was opened early and from 10am people started shopping from the large selection of plants. This year thanks to our sponsors the variety of plants was one of the best ever. The colours and quality of the flowering plants really inspired all ages to browse and buy something special for their own gardens.
All the hanging baskets sold out by lunchtime, nearly all the bedding and all the hostas sold well. Our Trustees and volunteers were kept hard at work on the card machine and taking cash, fuelled with tea, coffee, doughnuts and fruitcake!

Volunteers Vivienne Allan, Julie Budge, Trustees Anne Luckham, Barry Luckham, Organiser Barbara Hedges, Chairman Jon Allan.
The suppliers were wonderful this year with Longacres, Wickes, R&G Herbs, Stafford Lake Nursery, Plants Ltd, Daydawn Nursery, North Hill Nursery, Dingly Dell Nursery, Squires, Tenaker Nursery and Edwins. FWCH are so grateful for their support, without which we could not continue this wonderful event! The takings this year were about £1,500 thanks to all those gardeners who came and supported us, many of whom are regulars.
